Last week, my friend Alli gifted me a very unique birthday present. Well, actually, I had to make my make my own birthday present…but it was awesome! She took me to make succulent arrangements at this great little shop called Pigment. If you are from San Diego I highly recommend it.

The first thing we had to do was select a pot or terrarium. There are TONS of options. Tall, short, clear glass or colored.  We both picked little gold bowls.

Next we picked the succulents. You can pick more than one and make an arrangement, but we decided to be minimalists.  I got a little spiky guy and Alli went for the more traditional look.

Next up, we added the soil and it was ready to decorate! Pigment has bins of sand every color of the rainbow. I picked this dreamy purple color. I added some broken pieces of glass (I know, it sounds dangerous) to add some shine. Last up, I bedazzled it with some crystals. Alli did pretty much the same thing, except with green sand and gold pieces.

We really did keep it simple. They had so many pretty embellishments to choose from. Colored mosses, stones, crystals gold nuggets and lots of other shiny things. We could have gone nuts, but we restrained ourselves.

I know it might seem unfair to go on and on about how awesome Pigment’s succulent arrangements are—especially since most of you don’t live in San Diego. But this craft is way doable on your own. You can find cute little pots or terrariums online on etsy or amazon. Succulents are cheap and easy to find—and care for. But if you really want the Pigment experience but don’t live in San Diego, you can go to the Pigment website and pick from all the cool options we got to choose from.

The best part of my crafting experience was doing it with my sweet friend Alli (Awww). Girl time is a must for me; so adding crafts to quality friend time is a double win. If you and your besties do this DIY project on your own, you could also add some wine or cocktails to the mix! Now that would be the perfect summer evening!
