Young, talented, and full of life, Jess Payne‘s creativity shines through her cross stitching and hoop art. We are thrilled to have her here, telling us a little bit about herself and her shop’s journey! Enjoy!

Meet The Maker

Firstly… HEY! Jess here, the face/weird person behind Geeky Little StitcherA few words to sum me and my mini crafty biz up? Cross stitch, food puns, cute, club & geeky (of course!)

So I have always liked being ‘crafty’ (code for making a mess) but could never really settle on something that I really enjoyed (and would give up my Saturday nights, being cool for … I am not cool… Not now, not ever!) Until I rekindled my love of cross stitch & mixed it with cute food with faces and boom the geeky little stitcher was born, woohoo!

I started off doing boring stuff … you know, same as everyone was doing, but it didn’t really float my boat (if you get my drift .. Sorry I love a pun!) until my lovely husband bought me a program so I could design my own patterns and that was it, the rest was history!

My first design was based on three mini avocados (one was happy, one was sad, one was surprised) with a ‘Holy guacamole’ slogan through the centre and a load of hearts and other cute stuff. I posted on insta and the people loved those little dudes!

Soon after, I started up a cross stitch club (I knew there had to be other cool people like me out there somewhere … )  with each month based on a different food theme, packed with patterns, kits, postcards, sweets and basically all the happy mail I would love to receive!! My army of other geeky little stitchers are pretty awesome, they keep coming back for more every month and they say nice things about the club so yeah, I am super happy about that!

I don’t currently run the club full time (booooo!!) but my dream is to be one day doing this full time, all the time so I can bring some cute, food themed cross stitching happy mail to everyone (ahhh – sounds like a Disney love story)! This year I have big plans: a new website, more kits, supplies, prints & stationery (based on my cross stitches) more club members & generally a whole load of fun!

Other fun facts about me … I hate balloons, I like drinking water from mugs, I love my dog barley, I love my husband (obvs … had to say that!) I love to doodle & I have the maturity levels of a 15 year old… boy.

Thanks for having me! xx
